Wario is a character originating from the Mario franchise, in which he is Mario's rival. Wario made his first appearance in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, as the main antagonist. Shortly after, with the release of Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, Wario became the star of his own franchise. Among the Wario titles is Wario Blast: Featuring Bomberman!, a crossover between the Wario and Bomberman franchises. Since then, Wario has made a few more crossover appearances with Bomberman in some Club Nintendo comics. Both characters also appear in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Wario is characterized as a greedy, short-tempered, and overweight man with a desire to become rich.
History
Wario Blast: Featuring Bomberman!
In Wario Blast: Featuring Bomberman!, Wario stumbles upon the extra-dimensional portal to Bomberman's homeworld. Seeing it as an opportunity to make a quick buck and earn some minions, he loots Bomberland. Bomberman and Wario must fight each other's Madbombers for the fate of Bomberland.
During Bomberman's raid, Wario and his False counterparts battle Bomberman after and during level completions. The armies of Wario await Bomberman without fail, and almost lead to his victory. However, Wario ends up losing the world he worked so hard to overrun to Bomberman himself.
Club Nintendo
Wario is the main character in the comic "Warios Weihnachtsmärchen", an adaptation of Dickens's A Christmas Carol. Wario, who is the owner of a bomb shop, makes a cold-hearted decision to fire his clerk. The following night, several ghosts visit Wario to tell him what he has done wrong. In the end, Wario decides to become a better man and spends the holidays together with Mario and his friends.
